Well - another successful shrimp feast has come and gone. The shrimp feast was held in September 2011 as was a great success. This is the first year that we literally ended up with no food at the end of the event. We couldn’t even do "to go" orders or have any one pound bags for sale for later.
A big thanks goes out to Ernie Phillips and Bill Fennimore for handling the cooking this year. You guys did a great job and everyone was very pleased with the way the shrimp was cooked. Sorry Mark - you may have been replaced.
A huge thank you goes out to Wendy Barboza for getting the door prizes for the day; handling the gift books and providing the two cookers of chili that were devoured. Jeff Elliott made the chili and I don’t think he even got a sampling of it for himself. Thank you, Belinda for running to the store during the middle of the event and getting us more hamburgers and hot dogs. Thank you to Catherine Ho for fixing all those wonderful "little" desserts. I think that was actually the highlight of the day.
But most of all - thank you to all the members that came and brought family and friends to the event. Without your support, we would not have done as well as we did. We didn’t make much money on the event after expenses but - everyone had a good time and plenty of food to eat.
Just as an FYI - we will need to raise the price of this event for next year. With the price of the food going up, especially the shrimp, it has finally caught up to us and we can no longer afford to only charge $15 advance price. The chapter has agreed that the advanced ticket price for next year will increase to $20 per person. So look for information on our next shrimp feast around the July/August time-frame.
Thank you all once again for helping us make this event so successful. The ways and means committee
