We have survived a hurricane, floods, earthquake and a tornado warning all within a short time....do hope this is not a ‘heads up’ for the winter. The Lodge has had a busy time....a very successful Shrimp Feast, Flea Market, Plane Pull at Dulles Airport and a Moose Clean-up day. I do hope you enjoyed, some if not all, of these activities.
On a personal note, we had much excitement in my neighborhood. My new neighbors and I have contracted with Blake of Bush Whackers (Moose members) to do some yard-work and landscaping. In clearing out some bushes at my neighbors house, Blake, John and Nikki found a suspicious object. Turned out to be a WWI howitzer shell with timer attached. This required the closing of my street and the cross-street. The military bomb squad was called in for removal. I think Blake should be charging hazardous duty pay! I am thinking about purchasing a metal detector!!
Now back to the Lodge.....we have the Children’s Halloween Party scheduled for Oct 22 from 1 to 3 in the Main Hall....there is a sign-up sheet in the Social Quarters.
I am sure you have noticed, if you have been in any store, Christmas is coming and plans are being made. Santa will make his presence known on December 10 from 9 to 11 at the Children’s Breakfast with Santa, which is always a fun time....so look for sign-up sheets for the kids for that event. Don’t miss these exciting parties.
Thanks to Linda K (our Junior Grad) for her wonderful North Carolina Bar-B-Q Dinner last Friday....she won’t share the recipe but will prepare it again next Fall. Don’t miss it. We also have to thank Jack for his wonderful sauce for our spaghetti dinner last month....we did manage to save some for sale after the dinner. Always a special treat – a great big thanks Jack!
We are still growing...signing up new members...both men and women. Remember if you sign up two new members, your dues for next year are waived...great incentive.
