Breakfast with Santa Report
Written by Linda Kaye Hunter

Breakfast with SantaWe held our traditional Breakfast with Santa on December 12th 2009. We had such a wonderful time with all the children that showed up to see Mr. and Mrs. Claus. We were told that Mrs. Claus had so much fun last year that she brought Elf Terri along with them this year. The looks on the children's faces when Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Elf Terri arrived on the fire truck was pure excitement. It really made your heart soar to see their joy seeing Santa, his wife and even an elf arriving at the lodge. But, the best part of the day was coming when the kids received their gifts. Seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child reminds you of how Christmas should be.

I wish to thank all the volunteers that helped to make this year such a success. I want to thank Mark Smith, Bill Hill and Ernie Phillips for the hard work in the kitchen. They sure know their way around a kitchen and provided the best food in town. Also, a big thank you to Barbara Mimskimin, Ginny McClung, Michelle Peterson, Hannah Hoover and all of the other co-workers that were there to help with the event. There are too many names to mention them all but you know who you are. Be proud that you helped in making this such a successful event again this year.

This year, we did something different. As part of our community service, the co-workers and men provided the Fairfax City Fire Department with 2 dozen Tommy Moose stuffed animals. These are used by the Fire/Rescue and Police departments to help the emotions of a young child change from distraught and distress to calm and happy when these first responders are called on. The Women of the Moose and the Loyal Order of Moose are planning on continuing these types of donations throughout the year (not just at Christmas time).

Again, thanks to all of you for making the Breakfast with Santa event a great one.

Fraternally,
Linda Kaye Hunter
Jr. Regent
