Our achievements for 2009The year 2009 was a great year for all of us at the Centreville Moose lodge! We made great strides in the support of our community, as well as, hosting new events and general member supported gatherings. This year I wanted to do an awards program during the holiday party. But, due to illness and general stress of starting a new job, I was unable to put it together in time. I now realize, that I could have asked for support for this endeavor and do apologize for not doing so. I did however wish to list all of our accomplishments over the last year. It is a list for which we all should be proud. The list is rather long and is in no certain order.

  • Both LOOM and WOTM hosted a holiday party with a band for our members
  • Hosted an Atlantic City Bus trip
  • Won 2008 Virginia Moose Associations “Website of the Year Award”
  • Conducted the 2009 Lodge Revitalization Project
  • Installed High Definitions televisions in the lodge
  • Donated food to Our Daily Bread
  • Donated clothing to Yesterdays Rose
  • Made donations to the Victory Junction Gang
  • Restarted the “Adopt-A-Spot” program and received recognition from Clean Fairfax as a community organizer
  • Made donations to Virginia Commonwealth University’s  “Massey Cancer Center”
  • Supported the Fairfax Police Youth Club.
  • Held our first ever “Membership Stimulus” program
  • Held three Free Texas Hold-Em Poker Tournaments with loads of prizes for the winners
  • The Women of the Moose started hosting Friday Night Dinners once a month
  • Donated clothing to the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries.
  • Donated food to the Saint Timothy's Catholic Church Food Pantry
  • The Men started Friday Night dinners once a month
  • Sent members to the Virginia Moose Association and Moose International Conventions
  • Made Christmas better for those at The Lamb Center by donating gifts
  • The Moose Legion Committee sponsored a Little League Team
  • The Moose Legion Committee hosted a 4th of July Celebration
  • Made donations to the Virginia Special Olympics and Safe Surfin' Foundation
  • Donated space for the Oxford House to help its members
  • Held a fundraiser breakfast for Ronald McDonald Charities
  • The WOTM hosted Breakfast with Santa for the kids
  • Presented The Fairfax City Fire Department with stuffed “Tommy Moose”
  • Donated to the Fairfax/Falls Church Community Services Board to help needy citizens

The Centreville Moose has the most generous and supportive members. A huge “Thank You” to all the members who helped support our community by donating their food, clothing, money and time. Let’s keep the momentum going and stride to make 2010 even better!

Fraternally,

Daniel Sullivan
Treasurer and Chairman of the website committee
